Zoetermeer: On the Road to Being a Recreational Haven
Zoetermeer, literally meaning “Sweet Lake” in the English language is a city in West Netherlands. It was formerly a small village with most of the residents known to be farmers and fishermen. The name of the city was derived from the name of the former man-made lake. The lake was unintentionally created due to the tons of sand that were gathered on the northern part of Zoetermeer for the completion of housing developments in the area.
Zoetermeer At Present
While Zoetermeer looks modern at the present time with the presence of many modern buildings including residential apartments and business complexes; there still remains medieval traces that can take you back to where the city actually sprouted from. This includes some creations that have been present since the earlier centuries including the well-known historic period clock tower and old-age buildings that obviously show evidences of being present for the longest time.
At present, plans of making Zoetermeer well-known for recreational and leisure purposes are patiently being worked out. Several projects are being proposed and if plans will push through carrying out will eventually be initiated in the soonest possible time.
Zoetermeer offers a favorable environment both for businesses and people. This is because labor force presently available are those that belong to the younger minds, which have been regarded as equally productive and creative.
With so much tedious hard work and bright aspirations, it would not be impossible that Zoetermeer might soon become one of the most well-known recreational haven for travelers and locals alike.
